Tucked away in Mornane Place in Melbourne’s CBD, European cocktail and wine bar, Arlechin, is once again set to become Melbourne’s favourite late-night spot, the intimate 40-seat space to bring a touch of Italian flair to its updated food and drink menus.
The latest venture from the Grossi family (Grossi Florentino, Grill, Ombra, Cellar Bar, Puttanesca), Arlechin invites guests to step inside and be immersed within the venue’s subterranean ambience, an intimate space that resembles the charm of an old European wine cellar with its central curved cork roof.
The Bar Venue Manager, Russell Branford (Lakehouse Daylesford) has worked closely with the Grossi family to deliver a menu that captures his deep understanding of the industry and desire to deliver an unmatched experience by creating the perfect cocktail. The cocktails, behind the bar, are created using a premium selection of ingredients and are infused with in-house techniques.
At Arlechin, you can expect signature cocktails such as;
‘Puttanesca Martinez’ ($24) – a take on the classic pasta sauce which was a discovery that stemmed from a mural depicting the very same sauce outside the entry of Arlechin
‘A Little Bit of Fancy’ ($29) – a reimagining of the classic champagne cocktail with a playful twist. The true magic unfolds with a Campari-soaked sugar cube to create a fizzing spectacle
‘Gabriel’ ($23) – a highball crafted with a blend of high ester rum and housemade strawberry shrub, bringing a symphony of funky, sweet and sour flavours to the palate.
‘Midnight Gold’ ($25) – made with saffron-infused gin, mandarin liqueur, and a splash of lemon, delicately topped with a luxurious liquid meringue and a sprinkle of strawberry crumb
Complementary to the drinks list, the food menu draws on Grossi’s Italian roots and embodies Arlechin’s intimate ambience and unmistakable Italian charm and offers small share plates including;
Salumi, Giardineria (pickled vegetables) ($28)
Cozze Scapece (Italian steamed mussels) with nduja ($26)
Whipped Baccala (salted cod) with pickled red onions served on a crumpet ($26)
Bolognese Jaffles ($16)
Grossi’s famous Midnight Spaghetti ($24)
Mugellani (ravioli) with potato, pecorino and hazelnuts ($28)
Classic Carbonara ($24)
For those with a sweet tooth, a crema fritta ($15) or classic tiramisu ($15) is on the menu. Arlechin will open on Friday, 24 May and operate from Wednesday to Saturday from 5 pm – 1 am.
