Over the June long weekend, The Star Sydney transformed into the social event destination for the biggest trade event in the southern hemisphere for the hairdressing industry, hosting the annual Hair Expo by Reed Exhibitions from 6 – 8 June 2015.
Three massive events for over 2,000 guests kicked off on 6 June, starting with Sharon Blain’s 50 year salute, where Goldwell hosted 500 guests to celebrate the hairdressing industry icon and her successful career spanning 50 years, at The Star’s award winning nightclub Marquee. The event featured an inspiring exhibition of framed portraits of Sharon Blaine’s creations, lining the walls of Boombox in Marquee, creating an intimate and theatrical space perfectly suited for this special event.
The Star Event Centre pulled out all the stops for a second year in a row hosting the GENNEXT GALA on 7 June for almost 800 guests who were amazed by the stunning stage productions and performances showcasing the latest trends and creations in hair.
The Star Event Centre’s AV team worked closely with the event producers, Our Friends Electric, to design a truly engaging gala. Making full use of the in-house AV technology, including The Star’s giant LED screen which was split in two to create an opening for the models to make their dramatic entrance from the centre of the stage.
Over 1,000 guests then celebrated the 30th annual Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards Gala on 8 June, which started with a bang with the Schwarzkopf Professional’s show spectacular. The colourful fashion parade transfixed the audience via the stage which protruded through the tables into the audience, offering a totally immersive experience.
Amelia Coote-Harris, Hair Expo Australia Event Director at Reed Exhibitions commented on the appeal of The Star as a special events destination.
“The Star is a Sydney tourist attraction in itself and is hugely appealing, particularly to our interstate and overseas visitors. Hosting events at Marquee and The Star Event Centre has injected energy and pizzazz into the social events and ensured we engage with the expo attendees on a more personal level.
“With The Star so centrally located, it has been a perfect base for Hair Expo’s social and special events over the past two years,” said Ms Coote-Harris.
Jayson Heron, Director of Sales at The Star was delighted with the events and the lasting impact they left on attendees.
“It’s always vital to leave a lasting impression on guests and the social events of Hair Expo are extra special. They are exciting, energetic and most importantly memorable.
“Every industry loves to celebrate their wins and successes and our Event Centre is a stand out venue for social events such as these,” said Mr Heron.
